What it is
Also called lash line enhancement or baby eyeliner. Pigment is placed between the lashes rather than as a line on top of them, which gives the illusion of thicker, fuller lashes and adds contrast right at the eye.
The effect is deliberately subtle. When you are not wearing makeup it does not read as eyeliner, it reads as better lashes.
How the appointment runs
Your eyes are cleansed, then numbing cream sits on the lash line for around twenty minutes with your eyes closed. Your technician applies gentle pressure to the eyelid while placing the pigment with a digital machine, working across both eyes.
The area is cleansed at the end and lubricating drops go in. The whole appointment takes about an hour and a half.
Healing and touch-ups
The colour looks more intense immediately afterwards and softens over the first week. It is fully healed at around six weeks.
Some people want a touch-up between six and twelve weeks for a deeper concentration of colour, which takes about an hour. Most come back for a colour boost after a year.
Keep water and makeup off the lash line for five days, and expect some dryness while it heals.
Two things to plan around
Contact lenses cannot be worn during the procedure, though you can put them back in straight afterwards.
New lash extensions cannot be applied for two weeks after treatment, so if you are booking both, do the eyeliner first.
