What it is
Eyebrow threading is an ancient hair-removal technique that uses nothing but a twisted length of 100 percent cotton thread, no wax and no chemicals. Your therapist rolls the thread across the skin and it lifts each hair out from the root as it passes. We offer it at all three of our Bristol salons: Clifton Down, Westbury on Trym and Westbury Park.
Because it takes a whole row of hair at once, it produces a cleaner, straighter line than tweezing, and considerably more control than waxing.
Why choose it over waxing
Threading has some real advantages on the face, especially if waxing has never quite suited you:
- More precise, which matters enormously for brow shape
- No product touches the skin, so it suits sensitive or reactive skin
- Removes very fine hair that wax often misses
- Many people find it less painful than waxing
- Makeup sits noticeably smoother afterwards
Asha and Katy, our threading specialists
Threading across our three Bristol salons is done by two specialists, Asha and Katy. They thread eyebrows and faces all day, which is where a steady hand and a good eye for shape come from: working with the brow you already have, rather than one borrowed from somewhere else.
Eyebrow shaping: getting the line right
Before the thread touches your skin, your therapist looks at your natural brow line, your face shape and how your hair grows, and talks you through the shape before starting. That short conversation is what stops threading turning into "off with too much".
First visits usually take a little longer, because there is more shape to establish and more growth to map out. After that, maintenance appointments are quicker: you are keeping a line that already works rather than deciding one from scratch. If you want tint and full shape mapping on top, HD Brows folds threading into a longer, structured treatment.
Most people rebook brows every two to four weeks, though plenty stretch it further depending on how fast their own hair grows back. There is some discomfort, and how much varies a lot from person to person.
