What they are
Skin boosters are not fillers and they are not anti-wrinkle treatments. They do not add volume or stop muscles moving. They improve the quality of the skin itself: hydration, elasticity and that quality people describe as looking well.
Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid treatment that spreads under the skin rather than staying where it is placed, hydrating from within and stimulating collagen and elastin as it goes. It is used on the face, neck, chest and hands.
Lumi Eyes for the under-eye area
Lumi Eyes uses polynucleotides to target the delicate skin under the eye, where dark circles, fine lines and dehydration show first and respond poorly to almost everything else.
A session takes around 30 minutes. Three treatments at two-week intervals is the usual course, though the exact number depends on what you are starting with. Maintenance sessions keep the result going.
Who they suit
Profhilo is generally recommended from around age 30, which is roughly when collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid start declining meaningfully.
Two Profhilo sessions four weeks apart is the standard starting course, with results lasting up to six months. Most people then have one or two treatments a year.
We also offer Seventy Hyal, another injectable skin booster. Ask at your consultation, since the right choice depends on your skin rather than on which product is best known.
Before and after Lumi Eyes
Avoid alcohol and blood thinners for 24 hours beforehand, and avoid aspirin, vitamin E and anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen for five days if it is safe for you to stop them. Keep caffeine down on the day.
Afterwards, no makeup for 24 hours, SPF 30 or higher daily for at least two weeks, and avoid saunas, swimming, direct heat and vigorous exercise for seven days. Leave facials, dermaplaning, peels and laser for at least a fortnight.
Mild bruising, redness or temporary swelling is common and settles quickly. Arnica cream helps with bruising.
When it is not suitable
Lumi Eyes is not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, currently unwell or on a course of antibiotics, taking permanent blood-thinning medication, or living with severe kidney or liver conditions.
Tell your practitioner about any medication and any condition at the consultation, including things that feel irrelevant. They are frequently the ones that matter.
